After we design your custom afghan with your guidance, the art proof will be sent to you for approval. At that time, you can approve the design, or request changes. Any changes you request will result in a new proof being created for your approval. The first step to starting your afghan design is placing an order. If you plan on taking orders from a single sample blanket, you may order one sample to start with, and place an order for at least 25 after taking enough orders to meet the minimum quantity required for production.

     Coming from a retail management background, I've learned what customer's expect before making a purchase in a retail store. Even if they're buying an inexpensive item, their purchase comes with a level of expectation. Knowing these expectations for a product before purchasing a new product for a gift shop or other specialty store are quite important.
     Consider how functional a collectible product is first. Even if it is a collectible for display only, the function and design of the product create a single force that impulses the customer to purchase. Creating a custom glass ball Christmas ornament.

This type of ornament has been around forever and it isn’t going anywhere. One of the most popular styles of custom Christmas ornament is the glass ball and it can be customized any way you see fit.

First there is the 2-5/8” size. This is not the imprint area size, but the actual diameter of the ornament. The imprint area is 1-3/4” x 1-3/4”. The other size available is 3-1/4”. The imprint area on this size is 2” x 2” and allows for more detail on the image to show.

When considering doing these as a series for a fundraiser, it is best to sit down and brainstorm with a couple other people. This will give you a feel for what others may want to see on an ornament and it takes the pressure off of you as the sole person in charge of the design. A few good examples for a series of ornaments are:
Churches: Doing the stained glass windows in the church. 1 or 2 ornaments a year depending on the number of windows available.
Chambers of commerce: Community events and original businesses from the early town days.
Historical Societies, Museums: Famous people from the community or state.

How did Treasured Scenes get started?

We began our Treasured Scenes line over 26 years ago after meeting a chamber that was struggling to afford new decorations for their Main Street at the holidays. The Chamber began offering a limited edition collectible for sale in the community and soon found that folks were waiting in line year after year to purchase their item and support the chamber. They raised enough money to expand their decorations, and the merchants were delighted they were no longer being assessed each year to maintain this cost. Some have chosen to make it available every quarter to help the chamber fund their operating expenses, or add to their ability to house paid staff. The chamber created a limited edition collectible, featuring a building on one side and the history of the historic site on the other. They would produce only a specific quantity, making it a true limited edition collectible.

The idea caught on so well that we began to expand our line to include a variety of limited edition collectibles that chambers are using to fund a variety of programs while promoting their organization at the same time. Every one wins!

Overview of Treasured Scenes

When Keystone Specialties President, John McWilliams, first designed and created the Treasured Scenes Collectibles in 1982, he did so with the purpose of creating the best fund-raising programs available for schools, churches, historical societies, and museums.
